How the idea for this artwork came about was when I was feeling very dazed and numb. I just felt like I was blinded by what I perceived was true and I was completely out of touch with reality. Thus the name 'Hmm', which is what I often say when I feel like there's so much noise in my head an around me, became the name of this piece. Sometimes when everything is so loud, all I am able to say is "Hmm".
The image of a girl floating in water completely unfeeling came to mind and this is the result.
I really enjoyed painting this piece especially when I was mixing the different tones for the skin. I made shades of purple, green and pink. This is the first time I've painted a portrait like this with the multiple shades and I honestly can't wait to practice more in the future! This was very fun :)
I was inspired to write this short poem:
The world is black
But she only sees white.
Darkness can blind
But so can light.
